Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South, Inc. is pleased to introduce its newest program, Resurrection STEM Explorers.
Developed this summer by Resurrection staffers Erica Shepherd and Brandon R. Vaughn and electrical engineer and NASA staffer Max McCall, the emerging program is dedicated to giving our students first-hand interaction with and exposure to careers in STEM.
This Friday, November 30, 2018, the inaugural group of Resurrection STEM Explorers is scheduled to go on an immersive field trip to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The young Explorers will participate in day camp at the Center and will tour the Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) Lab, Polymer Lab, Electronics Lab, the Drone Lab, and more – offering the students access to men and women with more than 50 combined years of work in STEM. In addition, the STEM Explorers will visit the U.S. Space and Rocket Museum before returning to Montgomery to debrief and reflect.
The inaugural group of Resurrection STEM Explorers consists of Jalen Barlow, Akecia Blackman, Nicholas Camp, Brianna Foxhall, Xavier Foxhall, Kamari Golson, Camaree Griffin, Kayla Griffin, Jaden Haughton, Kerringtyne Matthews, Makayla Millender, Genesis Nobles, Cyrinthia Paradise, Cyrek Smith, Jekarius Wiley, and Jailene Willard.
We hope to see Resurrection STEM Explorers grow into an annual program, but that cannot happen without generosity, kindness, and support. We are confident that Resurrection STEM Explorers will not only add to the life of our students, but that the program will also add to the Missions’ legacy of formation and educational enrichment.
