Next week, Resurrection is pleased to welcome a variety of social justice advocates and change agents hoping to bring attention to the case of an innocent man whose voice has been ignored by state and national officials.
On Monday, Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South, Inc. will host “Storytellers: How I became justice involved…” – a night of discussion dedicated to justice for Robin “Rocky” Myers. July 16, 2018 marks Myers’ 55th birthday and organizers hope the event will not only highlight the work they do, but also the wrongful conviction of Myers.
Convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in 1993 for a crime he didn’t commit, Myers has since been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Since his initial sentence, advocates and supporters have fought for Myers to be granted clemency, given his innocence and the fact that he is intellectually disabled.
The event will be held in Resurrection Catholic School Auditorium, and storytelling will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Q&A session. The event is sponsored by the Middle District of Alabama Federal Defenders and will feature Myers’ attorney, Kacey Keeton, and Investigator Sara Romano. Storytellers featured at the event will include Alan Cross, Ryan Lenz, Kerry Myers, Jan Risher, and David Sadler. The event is free and open to the general public.
