On Monday, June 28, a retirement celebration was held for Mrs. Brenda Overby, who has served as the Librarian at Resurrection Catholic School for the past eleven years. Joining her for the celebration were several members of her family including her grandchildren, daughters, sons-in-law, sister, aunt and several friends. To commemorate Mrs. Overby’s eleven years at Resurrection and her 49 years as a librarian, eleven candles were lit by eleven members of the faculty and staff. Each person spoke briefly about what she meant to them. As expected, a few tears were shed and Mrs. Overby has promised to visit often when school reopens in the Fall. Sr. Gilda Bell gave a message, Cliff Petty provided the music, Fr. Manuel blessed the occasion and Principal, Dr. Martha Pettway emceed it. Mrs. Overby’s favorite meal was provided by the kitchen staff and was enjoyed by all. We will truly miss Mrs. Overby’s gentle spirit and exuberant joy when working with the children.
