The 2019 Resurrection Collegiate Volunteer Program continues, and we have had a great week with our “Big Three” – student groups from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Creighton University group is comprised of student leaders Ellen Erie and Maggie Sackinsky, and participants Sean Coveny, Jada Glover, Sarah Jacober, John Oberst, Carly Rademacher, Erika Sailer, and Erin Schrader.

The Gonzaga University group is comprised of faculty advisor Juliane Mora, staff adviser Darcy Phillips, student leader Hawa Elias, and participants Emily Cook, Gabbi Fuller, Gabby Hanselman, Michael Larson, Matthew Rogers, Francesca Nevil, Barnabas Sirak, Sara Skornik, and Joe Stewart.

The Marquette University group is comprised of student leaders Ellie Hope and Karolina Sobieski and participants Kristen Cardoza, Liz Grandinetti, Jordan Moll, Keely Napoli, Meredith Nee, Grace Rigney, Joe Smith, and Samantha Thompson.

In between their hours of service at Resurrection and in the broader Montgomery community, the students are spending their free time visiting notable local stops like Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, the Freedom Rides Museum, and the Rosa Parks Museum.

On Tuesday, the collegiate volunteers also had the chance to meet known local figures of the civil rights movement like Doris Crenshaw and Nelson Malden while gathering in fellowship at a dinner focused around civil rights and social justice that has become a staple in RCVP’s history.

The students from Creighton, Gonzaga, and Marquette are making history this week – becoming our largest collective group of collegiate volunteers on campus simultaneously. We are so grateful to host these service-focused collegians and for the opportunity to further extend our formation efforts.
